We would like to invite members of our Phillies RBI program to attend a special Juneteenth celebration on Monday, June 19th at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. We are opening this to the first 200 who are looking to attend.
A special program for our Phillies RBI players will begin at 11:15 AM with a full slate of activities available for our RBI players (and their families) to participate in.
Event Description:
For more than 15 years, the National Constitution Center has celebrated Juneteenth with special programming, educating visitors on the holiday's important role in expanding the Declaration of Independence's promise of liberty and equality to all Americans, the constitutional amendments that made that shift possible, and the inspiring stories of those who fought for freedom. With the opening of our Civil War and Reconstruction exhibit in 2019, we have been able to bring this history to life even more vividly through rare artifacts and documents like original copies of the copies of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, and a commemorative copy of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln.
Citizens sponsorship of free admission allows us to welcome members of the community who might not otherwise be able to experience our exhibits and programming in person, and to introduce them to our free educational resources that will allow the learning to continue long after their visit.
Programming will include special tours of our Civil War and Reconstruction exhibit, activities for a range of age groups highlighting important historical figures like Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, and more.
Through Citizens' partnership with Major League Baseball's Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) youth outreach program, we will also work with Citizens and the Philadelphia Phillies to bring RBI participants in the 8-12 year age range to the Center for a special program.

At this program, you can explore the lives of four American women—Harriet Robinson Scott, Harriet Tubman, Harriet Jacobs, and Harriet Beecher Stowe—who confronted slavery through literature, lawsuits, and direct action in their efforts to free themselves and others from bondage. |
Civil War and Reconstruction Tour Feature Exhibit Gallery, 1st Floor

Explore the Center’s compelling exhibit, Civil War and Reconstruction: The Battle for Freedom and Equality, as one of our museum educators leads viewers through the exhibit. Along the way, your guide will highlight the stories of people like Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and other figures. You will also get an up-close look at special artifacts on display, including original copies of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments, Dred Scott’s signed petition for freedom, a fragment of the flag that Abraham Lincoln raised at Independence Hall, a commemorative copy of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Lincoln, and more! |

Additional Museum Exploration
The National Constitution Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During your free time, you can explore the National Constitution Center. The Story of We the People, a dynamic, interactive exhibition illuminates America’s constitutional history through innovative exhibits, films and photographs, rare artifacts, and hands-on activities led by our education staff. And, one of the Center’s most popular and iconic attractions, Signers’ Hall invites you to sign the Constitution alongside 42 life-size, bronze statues of the Founding Fathers present at the signing on September 17, 1787. Plus, it’s a great place for a photo! Don't miss our newest exhibit, The 19th Amendment.
